Fall Into Better Skin This Season

Posted by support on Oct 10, 2012

It's that time of year again. The temperatures are cooler, the leaves are changing and the air is starting to get crisp and dry. Fall is here, and just like it’s time to switch out your wardrobe, it's time to change up your skin care routine. Use these tips to keep your skin soft and radiant all season long.

Switch out your shower gel. The fruity shower gels that are so popular in the summer can really dry out your skin when the temperature starts to drop. Put them away and pick up a soap-free hydrating cleanser to leave your skin feeling smooth. If you’re looking for a face wash with more moisture try our H2V Hydrate cleanser to give your skin a little extra hydration boost. A moisturizing body wash and face wash is your first line of defense in the war against flaky skin.

Hydrate regularly. A new shower gel alone isn’t enough to completely stave off dryness. To look your absolute best this fall and winter, it's important to hydrate your skin regularly throughout the day. Find the right moisturizing lotion or cream for you and get in the habit of applying it regularly – especially after you shower or bathe. By applying lotion as soon as you dry off, you can seal residual moisture in.

Stock up on lip balm. For many people, chapped lips are a major problem this time of year. For perpetually luscious lips, stock up on moisturizing non-petroleum-based lip balm. Keep a few sticks in your purse, in your desk and throughout your home. Any time you feel your lips drying out, apply it liberally. If you need an extra punch of rejuvenation try a lip exfoliator like Smashbox Emulsion Lip Exfoliator or a homemade remedy from The Chalkboard Magazine.

Invest in a beauty mask. Exfoliation, a rough process by design, can be more damaging to your skin in the fall if not performed properly. To prevent your skin from drying and peeling, use a rejuvenating mask that removes dead skin cells and hydrates at the same time, like H2V Beyond. This mask is a uniquely formulated pumpkin mask that will have you feeling festive and refreshed just in time for the holidays.

Fall is a season of change, especially when it comes to skin care. To maintain bright, radiant skin in the cooler months, our advice is simple: moisturize, gently exfoliate, drink lots of water and then moisturize some more. Seek out the products that do it best for your skin type and use them as needed. As long as you hydrate regularly, the dry air of fall won't dull your natural glow.
