Pampering 101: What to Expect on Your First Spa Visit

Posted by support on Mar 27, 2013

Your first trip to the spa, like any other first, can be nerve-wracking. But don’t worry – that’s bad for your skin. Take a deep breath, let go and get ready to be spoiled. We're about to tell you what you can expect on your first visit to your local Burke Williams Spa.

First of all, a spa trip is supposed to be an indulgence, so for the best possible experience you should plan on making a full day out of it. We suggest arriving an hour before your scheduled appointment so that you can enjoy all of the amenities the spa has to offer.

When you schedule your appointment, you can choose either a male or a female therapist. Upon arrival, the first thing you’ll do is check in at the front desk where you’ll be greeted by our welcoming and knowledgeable staff. In the locker room, you can shed both your clothes and the accumulated stress of the outside world. Prepare to be disconnected for a while – no cell phones, laptops or cameras are permitted in the spa. Spas are divided into male- and female-only areas. Swimsuits are optional, but if you feel more comfortable you’re welcome to wear one.

After you’re settled in, it's time to enjoy the many spa amenities like whirlpools, mist rooms and saunas. If your first spa date is solo, we have designated quiet rooms. If it’s a group date, we have social areas where you can chat.

We suggest that you shower before your treatments – it helps you relax, and it also washes any chlorine off your body. After your shower, you can primp to your heart’s content in vanity areas stocked with our full line of exclusive and ultra-effective H2V skincare products. We also have hair tools like curling irons, straighteners and blow dryers on hand to keep your locks looking as lovely as the rest of you.

When it’s time for your appointment, your therapist will meet you in the lounge and lead you back to your private room. There you can enjoy one of our amazing treatments, like the detoxifying Thermal Seaweed Wrap. If you’re uncomfortable with anything during your appointment, just say the word and your therapist will make adjustments. If you want to make conversation during your treatment, feel free! If not, the therapist will follow your lead, so just relax.

At the end of your session, you can dress privately. Your therapist will direct you back to the spa, to your next treatment or to checkout – whichever you prefer. After all, it’s your day. Tips for your therapists are always appreciated. We recommend 15-20%.

We’re fairly certain that your first spa trip won’t be your last, and we look forward to seeing you time and time again. If you still have any questions or concerns about your upcoming visit, feel free to give us a call, or ask on our Facebook page.
